Guys,
I wanted to get the word out on a seperate thread so it wouldn't get lost in the large weather thread. Just got a chance to look at some updated information, and things are setting up for some VERY severe stuff tomorrow (Wed.). "Significant Tornadoes" are forecasted. Now, pending on what happens in Western Kansas tonight, this could change, but the Storm Prediction Center very RARELY puts out a Moderate Risk with that type of language a day in advance. So, they think it's going to hit the fan. The area of concern surrounds a line from the Manhattan to Hutchinson to Medicine Lodge, including the ICT area(On the Eastern edge of Threat area). This line could shift either direction pending on the outcome of tonight's weather. IF this thread doesn't get removed, I will update it in the morning. So, heads up for tomorrow! "`The Suck Zone`. It`s the point basically when the twister... sucks you up."

This is from and email that I received today---
The Storm Prediction Center in Norman Oklahoma is forecasting a MODERATE risk for severe weather just to our west although we are also in the If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.
Everything in life I need to know, I learned from HOCKEY. **Go to where the puck is going, not where it has been. **Keep the highs low and the lows high. **Deep down, everyone wants to ride the Zamboni. **Keep your head up. **Remember the kids. **The term 'puck bunnies' has nothing to do with rabbits. **You can use hockey tape to fix just about everything. **A closet should be organized as follows: HOME and AWAY. **Goaltenders do it with their glove hand. **Everybody loves a fight. **Follow the code. **Listen to the people who were there. **Ignore the twits upstairs who get in for free. **Take the man, not the puck. **Blocking shots hurts right now, but losing lasts forever. **There are no ties. |

Actually its becuase now that he is in Texas, all the hot air coming out of his mouth is moving north running into some cool Canadian air from the north, if somebody would smack him, i'd bet the national weather service would move it to a slight warning... Hope you got Hobo stab insurance

That's amusing!
Okay, here's the latest update. 1. The Moderate Risk area has shifted more to the west and south of Wichita. It no longer stretches up to the KS/NEB border. Plus, ICT is just East of the Moderate Risk Area in a Slight Risk. This means ICT could still see some nasty stuff late this afternoon and evening. So, don't let your guard down, just keep an eye on the media for coverage in case something does pop up. 2. The new threat area is just West/Southwest of a line from Hutchinson to Medicine Lodge. Yes, it includes Greensburg, Coldwater, and the OK/TX Panhandles. This area could still shift as the Cold Front is retreating, but how much, is still up in the air. 3. Here's the wording from the Storm Prediction Center: "WITH THE POTENTIAL TO PRODUCE TORNADOES...VERY LARGE HAIL...AND DAMAGING WINDS. A COUPLE OF STRONG TORNADOES MAY OCCUR THIS EVENING" IF, and that's a big IF, these clouds burn off and allow more sunlight to heat the air and make it unstable, the potential for severe weather will drastically increase. If I get a chance to update before heading out, I will. Tallk to everyone later. "`The Suck Zone`. It`s the point basically when the twister... sucks you up."

FLASH FLOOD WATCH
(according to msn) RUSSELL...LINCOLN...GREAT BEND... ELLSWORTH...SALINA...LYONS...MCPHERSON...MARION...HUTCHINSON... NEWTON...KINGMAN...WICHITA 308 AM CDT WED MAY 23 2007 ...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING... THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN WICHITA HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF CENTRAL KANSAS AND SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS...IN CENTRAL KANSAS...BARTON...ELLSWORTH...LINCOLN...MARION...MCPHERSON... RICE...RUSSELL AND SALINE. IN SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS...HARVEY... KINGMAN...RENO AND SEDGWICK. * FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING * STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO REDEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON ACROSS CENTRAL KANSAS AND PERSIST ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTH CENTRAL KANSAS OVERNIGHT. THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL CONTAIN VERY HEAVY RAINFALL THROUGHOUT THE WATCH AREA. WITH SOILS NEARLY SATURATED...ANY ADDITIONAL RAINFALL WILL GO INTO RUNOFF CAUSING FLASH FLOODING. IN ADDITION TO FLASH FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS...RIVER FLOODING WILL ALSO BE LIKELY TONIGHT. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT CONDITIONS MAY DEVELOP THAT LEAD TO FLASH FLOODING. FLASH FLOODING IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. REMEMBER TO TURN AROUND...DON`T DROWN. YOU SHOULD MONITOR LATER FORECASTS AND BE PREPARED TO TAKE ACTION SHOULD FLASH FLOOD WARNINGS BE ISSUED. I do believe that we have been over this before. No drowning and I am not chasing my comp down a raging rapid...I will be in my car with my beer rididng the rapids....LOL. BTW: It is not raining here in Turon, but I am looking at some hella crazy clouds. |

I went outside a little while ago, and the sun was not only shining, but there were huge areas of clear blue sky. Hopefully it doesn't stay this way long enough for the air to heat up. Everyone be careful and try to stay safe, and hopefully we don't get much more than heavy rain!!! Got a problem with me?

Okay, this thread can die, now.
All of the tornadic action stayed out West last night, except for the little popcorn fart that tried to spin up in Kingman and Reno Counties in the early afternoon. The Cold front stalled and the storms acted goofy, so it wasn't as bad as they thought. That's forecasting! However, it was truly amazing to see all of the rainfall and flooding! I hope everyone up in the Hutch area did okay with the flooding. Until next time, you guys have a good Memorial Weekend! I know I will! "`The Suck Zone`. It`s the point basically when the twister... sucks you up."
