well i was bored just wanted to play a guessing game.... Last years home opener attendance was pathetic i think maybe around 5 or 6 thousand?.. I am just curious what everybodies guess will be for this year... i think with having a new coach who brings alot of hope to the team and some good signings. along with bein downtown in the somewhat new arena the turnout will be alot better. I am going to say around 11,000... I guess it also depends on who were playing that could bring in more or less people maybe... When are they suppose to release the schedule??

5000???? No way it's only 5000!! there was that many there pretty much every game last year and that was with a pathetic team that had no chance of makin it to the playoffs and we really had no reason to go except to watch us lose by 2 or 3 goals every time out.. I have heard alot more people actually excited and talking about the team now then i EVER did at anytime before the season last year... friends who have only been to a few games have been talking about how they are ready for the season and excited about the possibilites.. We could draw more than 5,000 in our sleep!!

It's too bad that the home opener happens to be on the same day as K State vs KU football.

It depends on who we play. If it is Allen or Odessa then I would say 6000ish. If it is Tulsa or Missouri then 7000+. It would also depend on if they do opening night as a "buy-in" night. Then it could be 14,000.

KU & K-State football?! [shudder] ....I'm desperately trying to avoid my anti-NCAA Football rant. Besides, they can watch it on one of the 500 different tv's at IBA. I'm predicting at least 3 15-yd-penalties for "excessive celebration" after one team scores a TD & then doesn't IMMEDIATELY place the ball in the official's hands. What a crock.
I'm hoping for huge numbers at the opener tho.... I'll stay with 10,000-ish. Even tho we were pretty awful last season, all my buddies had a great time when we went. I didn't even have to beg em to come. I'm keepin em posted on Thunder news, they're pretty stoked! Oh, and no question, Richard Dawson was the freakin MAN! Don't believe me? Watch the old Family-Feud re-runs on Game-Show-Network...... that guy, when introducing the contestants, would fondle and make-out with EVERY hottie he came across! "Yes Richard, this is my lovely wife Pam.... [pause for Dawson to fondle her, kiss her cheek and tell her how hot she looks] ..... my daughter Rebecca [pause for Dawson to kiss her on the lips and comment on where she gets her good looks from]...." And on and on and on..... no joke, watch GSN. Or just ask your grandparents! Grandmas across the US despise him and Grandpas idolized him as THE Pimp. |

Yes!! How stupid of me... I forgot to change that on my calender. The football game was moved, now I can have 100% of my attention on both games!
I just hope we don't suck.... ![]() "First, we have to learn how not to beat ourselves. When we learn how to stop losing, then we have to learn how to win. I can't predict anything. Probably around 6800. Maybe if they have some great promotions with lots of free/discounted seats we'll see more, but if not I don't see that many people coming. Tickets still cost more, and the team still has a horrible reputation, so I highly doubt we'll see anything remotely close to sellout crowds.

With Duda's jersey being retired, a new coach and a new team; no way it won't be a sell out. And I don't think they will have to give any THAT many free tickets. And by that I mean people might actually have to buy their seats in the upper level only to be pissed off when the people next to them got the same seat for free.

I just want to clear up a couple things. Under our lease at the Arena we are unable to just give tickets away. We are allowed a certain amount of complimentary tickets for players families, staff, off ice officials, etc. Once we reach that amount that is all there is. Every other ticket is paid for, or else it comes out of the Wichita Thunder's pocket. When a company has tickets that they give away to their employees or clients, those tickets have been paid for by the company. On nights such as American Family Insurance or Credit Union of America last year, the sponsor pays a substantial amount of money to be able to give out free tickets to their clients and employees. The Wichita Thunder has a large amount of sponsors, and those sponsors almost always have tickets has part of their sponsorship. So while the actual person sitting in the seat might not have paid for the ticket, the ticket was paid for somewhere along the line.
I hope this clears up some questions some people may have. As for opening night we are certainly working towards a sell out and cannot wait to see everyone out there for the retirement of Jason Duda's jersey and for Kevin McClelland first game as the Wichita Thunder Head Coach. Go Thunder! |

We knew someone paid for them. Nothing in free is life. Except death, and that's not really free, it's just a bill that gets passed on.
